Alex Johnston

is the CEO of 360 Concussion Care. She ran the Canadian office of Catalyst Inc., a global non-profit advocating for the advancement of women in business. She has served as executive director of the policy team for Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and as a vice-president for Canada’s national broadcaster. She is on the board of Desjardins Insurance and co-chairs the board of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada.

Conrad Black

is the author of widely acclaimed biographies of Maurice Duplessis, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Richard Nixon. He was for many years the head of the Argus, Hollinger, and Telegraph Newspaper groups, and a columnist in the National Post, which he founded, and the National Review Online. He is also the author of Rise to Greatness, a best-selling history of Canada, and has been a member of the British House of Lords since 2001.

Brian Lee Crowley

is founder and managing director of the Macdonald-Laurier Institute in Ottawa and also founded the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies in Halifax. He is the author or co-author of two Canadian national bestsellers: Fearful Symmetry: The Fall and Rise of Canada’s Founding Values and The Canadian Century: Moving Out of America’s Shadow.

Dr. Michael Ungar

is one of the world’s leading experts on resilience, which he defines as living well despite adversity. He is the Canada Research Chair in Child, Family, and Community Resilience, a professor of social work at Dalhousie University, and family therapist. He has worked with the World Bank, UNESCO, and the Red Cross, and is a recipient of the Canadian Association of Social Workers National Distinguished Service Award.

Preston Manning

was a member of the Canadian Parliament from 1993 to 2001. He founded two new political parties—The Reform Party of Canada and the Canadian Reform Conservative Alliance—both of which became the official opposition in parliament and laid the foundation for the present-day Conservative Party of Canada. He is the Founder of the Manning Centre for Building Democracy.

Marci Warhaft

is a recognized expert on body image and self-esteem, and a regular contributor to Optimyz Fitness magazine. One of Canada’s Top 100 influencers for 2018, 2019, and 2020, she has appeared on numerous television and radio programs across North America.

Jennifer Hosten

A native of Grenada, JENNIFER HOSTEN trained with the BBC and worked as a broadcaster and airline hostess before winning the 1970 Miss World competition. She later enjoyed a career in diplomacy, trade negotiation, and international development. She also founded and ran a successful in in Grenada, and now practices as a registered psychotherapist.

Tom Flannigan

a former advisor to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, is Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Distinguished Fellow at the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary.

Jack M. Mintz

is the President’s Fellow of the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary.

Ted Morton

a former cabinet minister in the Alberta government, is an Executive Fellow at the School of Public Policy and Professor Emeritus of Political Science, University of Calgary.

John Steffani

was only 19 when he was inspired by the deadly Hogg’s Hollow disaster to mobilize workers and demand fair rights. His efforts led to mass unionization and improved working conditions. Stefanini became business manager of the Laborers International Union in North America and founded the union’s Local 183 in Toronto.

Ira Wells

is an assistant professor of literature at Victoria College in the University of Toronto. His writing has appeared in The Guardian, The New Republic, The Walrus, Globe and Mail, Los Angeles Review of Books, American Quarterly, and many other publications.

Phillip Slayton

Born in England and raised in Manitoba, Slayton is a Canadian lawyer and the former dean of law at the University of Western Ontario. He is the best-selling author of Lawyers Gone Bad: Money, Sex and Madness in Canada’s Legal Profession and Mighty Judgment: How the Supreme Court of Canada Runs Your Life.

Kat Goldman

is an accomplished masterplanner of city centers, airports, waterfronts, and university campuses, with landmark projects in world capitals like New York City, London, and Toronto. His writing has appeared in The Globe and Mail, The Walrus, and the Literary Review of Canada, and he is a recipient of the Toronto Arts Award and a Fellow of the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Public Policy.

Sir Bernard Crack

was a political writer and emeritus professor of politics and fellow of Birkbeck College, London. His books include In Defence of Politics and Citizens: Towards a Citizenship Culture. He was joint editor of the Political Quarterly, a theatre correspondent for the Times Higher Education Supplement, and a government advisor on issues of language and citizenship education. He was knighted in January 2002 for “services to citizenship in schools and to political studies.”

Karen Gosbee

is a mental health advocate whose real-life experiences have fueled a personal commitment to improving the quality of life for those directly and indirectly affected by mental health and addiction. She is the co-chair of The Community Action on Mental Health and Addiction Stewardship Group for The City of Calgary and Member of The Province of Alberta Mental Health and Addictions Advisory Council.

Julian Symons

One of Britain’s most acclaimed mystery writers, JULIAN SYMONS was the author of the award-winning novels The Colour of Murder and The Progress of a Crime. He also published works of biography, history, and literary criticism, including Bloody Murder: From the Detective Story to the Crime Novel, a celebrated study of mystery storytelling. He was a Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America, and received the prestigious Diamond Dagger from the Crime Writers’ Association of Great Britain.

Dany Assaf

is a globally recognized lawyer, specializing in competition law and policy. Dany and his wife Lisa also co-founded Toronto’s Fast in the 6: Diversity.Unity.Prosperity. event. His family’s century of history in Canada began with establishing the first mosque in Alberta in 1938.

Allen Abel

work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, Smithsonian, and the Globe & Mail. He has written, produced, and hosted broadcasts and documentaries for HBO, the Discovery Channel, and the CBC, earning an Emmy nomination. The Washington Post called his non-fiction book Flatbush Odyssey: A Journey Through the Heart of Brooklyn “one of the best travelogues about anywhere, ever.”

Dr. Angela Mailis

is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto, was founder and director of the Comprehensive Pain Program at Toronto Western Hospital, and is the founder and director of the Pain & Wellness Centre in Vaughan. Dr. Mailis has lectured around the world, published widely in scientific journals, and is the author of Beyond Pain (2003).

Dr. Jeff Sutherland

led a perfect life…until he suddenly didn’t. In the prime of his life, Jeff was struck with the devastating diagnosis of ALS. Even through immense loses, Jeff has never stopped being a loving husband, father, friend, and community leader. He has also been a celebrated physician, teacher, children’s book author, ALS advocate, and tireless fundraiser.

Neville Thompson

is a professor emeritus of history at the University of Western Ontario, where he taught modern British and European history. He is the author of The Anti-Appeasers: Opposition to Appeasement in the 1930s, Wellington After Waterloo, and Canada and the End of the Imperial Dream.

Jonathan Kay

is Canadian editor of Quillette, a host of the Quillette and Wrongspeak podcasts, and an avid gamer. His previous books include Among The Truthers and Legacy: How French Canadians Shaped North America.

Joan Moriarity

has worked in the tabletop game industry as a designer, developer, art director, publisher, rules writer and instructor. Her writing has appeared in The Walrus and she has lectured at the University of Toronto and the Linden School on the magic of games.
